The SPC9 is a new 9mm carbine that incorporates many of the features found on the B&T APC9, MP5 and common AR platforms of weapons. It provides excellent handling, accuracy, safety, and a very low recoil impulse thanks to the innovative hydraulic buffer.
The SPC9 line of weapons is a hybrid and truly customer demanded design. It has also called in rather endearing terms as the “Frankengun”. This is because it has incorporated many different features that are found on various weapon systems developed from around the world.
A Police agency in Europe required a 9mm carbine with the same handling features and ergonomics as the AR platform. The reason for this was twofold, one was the cost-saving of the 9mm round over that of the .300 AAC round and the 5.56 round. The second was that the bullet trap in the existing shooting range was not rated for rifle ammunition and could only withstand pistol ammunition. The solution was a 9mm training option.
Some of these features found on the SPC9 are time-proven while others are state-of-the-art and modern. It is a rather interesting communion of different designs and philosophies. For example, the 3-lug barrel attachment feature is exactly like that is found on the most popular SMG in the world. B&T has been producing suppressors for these weapons for almost thirty years and believe it is the best 9mm SMG suppressor mounting system available.
Another unusual feature of this weapon is that it sports two different charging handle systems. One of these is the classic handle found on AR platforms while the other is a non-reciprocating, foldable charging handle above the barrel. This gives the operator the choice to use whatever manual of arms that is preferred. Both of these systems are ambidextrous for obvious reasons but the most significant reason is that the designer of the weapon is a left-handed shooter and is quite sensitive to such things.
The telescopic PDW stock and handgrip of the weapon have been inspired by the classic AR platform. The weapon is delivered with a B&T produced pistol-grip but is replaceable by the operator to any other type of after-market product found. This includes Magpul, BCM or any other OEM producers on the market.
The weapon has both a NAR and M-LOK system for the positioning of lights, lasers, optics, brass catchers and handgrips. The NAR’s located are on the 12 and 6 o’clock positions while the M-LOK systems are on the lateral position. The SPC9 comes with a single M-LOK rail but others can be ordered.
The SPC9 is delivered with an Aimpoint T-Series optic on a 39mm riser and mount. The optic is virtually indestructible and will provide the operator with many years of hard service. The illumination system is designed so that the commonly found battery requires changing only every five years of normal service. The included Flip-up Iron-sights do co-witness with the mounted Aimpoint.
The weapon incorporates some rather unique features. Not found on other platforms and cannot see from the outside. These are:
